X account, “GAZAWOOD1″ shared a video clip on the platform showing journalists surrounded by a group of soldiers, with the following caption: “Don’t get excited. This is not a real scene. I’m just showcasing the abilities of the Gazans, and that they are able to create scenes that look completely real.”

Kashif verified the claim and found it to be misleading; the video was excerpted from the Palestinian series “Nazeef Al-Turab” that aired last Ramadan on “Al Arabi 2” channel on YouTube.

Kashif’s team found that the video clip own from episode 25, 27:10 to 28:27, which was aired on “Al Arabi 2” channel on 4 April 2024.

Kashif also contacted Razan Khader, an assistant director in the series “Nazeef Al-Turab,” who confirmed that the circulating scene was filmed in the town of Asira al-Shamaliya, north of Nablus.

Khader added that the scene depicts the harassment of the Israeli occupation soldiers against journalistic crews and their hindrance of field work, through showing a group of journalists covering the Israeli forces’ raid on the fictional town of Tel Al-Sabr, following an operation that resulted in the killing of the settler’s guard (Itamar), who had committed crimes against the town’s residents.

“Nazeef Al-Turab” is a Palestinian drama series that sheds light on the reality of the Palestinian countryside, depicting the recent situation in the West Bank with the expansion of settlements, settler attacks, Israeli army incursions, and the accompanying harassment, arrests, and home invasions of Palestinians.
