A picture of a burning car has recently spread on social media, claiming that it was the car of a Hezbollah leader that was targeted by the Israel on Tuesday, 3/12/2024, in Damascus, after the ceasefire agreement went into effect on 27/11/2024.
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and was incorrectly linked to the Israeli occupation targeting of a car on the Damascus International Airport road. The image was circulated in July 2024 and shows a car targeted by an Israeli occupation army warplane on the Damascus-Beirut road near the Saboura junction.
Asharq Al-Awsat News – Syria Facebook account published the photo on 9/7/2024, accompanied by the following text: “An Israeli drone targeted a car on the Damascus-Beirut road, near the Saboura junction in the Damascus countryside, on Tuesday, which led to its burning and the killing of those inside, according to local sources.”
Enab Baladi website also published the photo on 9/7/2024, accompanied by the following description: “The car that was targeted by an airstrike on the Damascus-Beirut road in the Rif Dimashq Governorate in Syria – July 9, 2024.”
Hezbollah mourned in a statement dated 9/7/2024 Hezbollah leader Yasser Nimr Qarnabash, and announced in another statement on the same day that the headquarters of the Golan 210 Command in the Nafah base had been targeted with dozens of missiles in response to the assassination carried out by the Israeli occupation in Saboura on the Damascus-Beirut road.
The official Syrian news agency SANA reported that the Israeli occupation army targeted a car on the road to Damascus International Airport on Tuesday, 3/12/2024, which led to its explosion.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also announced in a report published on 3/12/2024 that a person was killed in a car explosion on the Damascus International Airport road, after beinf targeted by the Israeli occupation army’s drone, and another was injured.
