Dima Moussalli posted on her Instagram account dimamousseli a group of videos, including a video of two girls meeting their families, claiming that the video was from Syria. She accompanied the video with the following text: “Congratulations to us, Syria, which returned at the hands of heroes…the free revolutionaries who paid dearly for our freedom…your blood was not wasted…you wrote history and we will write the future.”

    Source of the claim

Kashif verified the video via “Google Image” tool and found that it is old and incorrectly linked to the Syrian detainees who were released from prisons. The video shows the moment of the release of the two Palestinian prisoners, Liyan Kayed and Liyan Nasser, from the Israeli occupation prisons on 5/12/2024.

Journalist Muhammad Abed from the city of Jenin posted the video on his Instagram account on 5/12/2024, and said that the video shows: “receiving the two female prisoners, Liyan Kayed and Liyan Nasser, at the Jalameh checkpoint this evening.”

Journalist Muhammad Abed posted the video on his Instagram account on 12/5/2024.

Quds News Agency also published on YouTube a video clip of the same event from another angle on 5/12/2024, with the title: “The moment of receiving the two freed prisoners, Liyan Kayed and Liyan Nasser, at the Jalameh checkpoint near Jenin.”

Quds News Agency published the video on 5/12/2024

As for the third video that Dimamoussi published on her Instagram account, which shows the moment a family meets their son, which was verified by Kashif on 8/12/2024 and shows the moment mother of Palestinian prisoner Othman Ziyada met her him after 12 years in Israeli occupation prisons.

Many videos documented the release of detainees from Sednayah prison, including women and children, after the fall of Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria. The Syrian Civil Defense published on 9/12/2024 that its teams are still searching for detainees in Sednayah prison, adding: “As of today, 9 December at 4:45 pm #Damascus time, there is no evidence confirming the presence of detainees other than those who left it yesterday, and we will continue searching until we confirm in all sections of the prison.”

The opposition factions announced on Wednesday 27/11/2024 the start of a military operation called “Deterrence of Aggression.” On Sunday 8/12/2024, they announced in a statement broadcast on state television the liberation of Damascus and the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year rule. The opposition added that all detainees had been released.
