Social media accounts circulated an image of a man sitting next to coffins, claiming that the coffins contain real bodies from Gaza. “If people turn away from Gaza and grow tired of its news, do not abandon it, even if you stand alone… This is not a scene from a movie.”
Kashif verified the image via Google Images and found that it is old and mistakenly linked to deaths in Gaza. The photo was actually taken in November 2023 and shows symbolic coffins representing the bodies of children from Gaza in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Reuters published the image on November 18, 2023, in a report titled:
“Iranians protest against the killing of civilians in Gaza; Revolutionary Guard commander sees it as a ‘war of attrition’.”
The agency clarified that the image was captured by photographer Majid Asgaripour on 13/11/2023 and depicts “an Iranian man sitting next to symbolic coffins representing the bodies of Gaza’s children during a symbolic gesture on a street in Tehran.”
According to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, as of 18/3/2025, the total death toll from the aggression on Gaza since 7/10/2023, has risen to 50,277 and 114,095 injuries, including 921 martyrs and 2,054 injuries since the resumption of attacks on 18/3/2025.
