Information has spread on social media claiming that Israeli occupation aircraft dropped Christian religious leaflets on displaced people in the center of Gaza City. The leaflet reads: “Proselytizing leaflets were dropped by Israeli aircraft on displaced people in the center of Gaza City this morning. The people of Gaza, who are being exterminated by the Israeli occupation under Western cover, are being invited to the Christian religion. A position is required from the Christian churches in the East and West and to condemn this scene that paints the war on Gaza as a religious Zionist Crusader war.”
Kashif verified the information and found it to be incorrect. Kashif contacted a number of displaced persons in Gaza City, namely Omar Shaheen, Mohammed Khaled, and Salah Al-Najjar, who denied that Israeli occupation aircraft dropped such leaflets on Gaza City.
Journalist and media professional Samer Hanna Tarazi, whose based in Gaza City and works at the Baptist Hospital, told Kashif that these booklets were taken from inside the Bible Library in the square in the center of Gaza City, which has been closed for several years.
Tarzi added that the church next to the Baptist Hospital was turned into a field hospital, as it was turned into an internal medicine department and the library into an orthopedics department, leaving none of the church’s contents.
Kashif also searched public sources and platforms affiliated with the Israeli occupation army and did not find any mention of dropping these leaflets, as these platforms publish what is being dropped by Israeli aircraft.
