Video circulated with the claim it’s scenes of massive fire in southern Lebanon

Accounts on “X” published a video showing a massive fire, with the following claim: “South Lebanon is burning”.

Kashif verified the video via the “INVID” tool and found that it was of a fire at a waste dump in Burj Hammoud, Beirut. Al-Araby TV posted a report on its Facebook account on 12 September 2024, showing footage of the same event from different angles, with the following information: “Fears of its spread and calls to evacuate residents. A fire broke out at the waste dump in Burj Hammoud, the Lebanese capital Beirut, amid civil defense efforts to extinguish it”.

“Elsiyasa” X account also posted the video on 12 September 2024, with the following text: “A video showing the scale of the disaster, this is how the fire looks at the Burj Hammoud landfill”.

On Wednesday, 18 September 2024, icom wireless devices exploded in the hands of their users and inside homes in various areas of southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.

On Tuesday, 17 September 2024, pager devices exploded in the hands of their users in southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Bekaa in eastern Lebanon, as well as in the Syrian capital Damascus and the Damascus countryside.

Hezbollah issued a statement holding the Israeli occupation responsible for the attack, saying: “We hold the Israeli enemy fully responsible for the aggression, which also targeted civilians and led to the death of several martyrs”.
