The Palestinian Platform for Fact-checking and Media Literacy – Kashif, has joined the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), a leading network in the field of Fact-checking. The network includes organizations that demonstrate their commitment to neutrality, integrity, transparency of sources, transparency of funding and organization, transparency of methodology, and a commitment to open and honest fact-checking.
Organizations obtain membership after undergoing an assessment process by external experts appointed by the network to ensure their adherence to IFCN’s code of principles.
Riham Abu Aita, general director of Kashif, said that the membership shows testament to professionalism, accuracy, and commitment to a clear methodology that aligns with global principles of fact-checking.
Abu Aita added that this is a significant step forward for Kashif, which has demonstrated its professionalism and neutrality since its establishment and has become a trusted reference for the Palestinian, Arab, and international public regarding reliable information from Palestine. She affirmed, “We are proud of this achievement and of being the first Palestinian platform to receive this membership.”
The International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) was launched in 2015 to bring together fact-checkers from around the world. The network advocates for the integrity of information in the global battle against misinformation. It is committed to promoting excellence in fact-checking and believes that nonpartisan, transparent fact-checking can be a powerful tool for responsible journalism.
