Accounts on “ X” recently published a video clip showing a drone targeting an oil refinery, claiming that it was a missile on a factory in Tiberias. The accounts attached the video with the following captioned: “Enemy media: A missile fell directly on a factory west of Tiberias and a fire broke out in it”.
Kashif verified the video via the “INVID” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading, as it was published by “Reuters” in a report dated 22 June 2024 with the following title: “Russia’s Tuapse oil refinery damaged in Ukrainian drone attack”.
Al Arabiya also published the video clip on its Facebook account on 22 June 2024, accompanied by the following text: “The moment a Ukrainian drone attacked an oil refinery in Russia”.
Kashif’s Israeli affairs team searched the media and official Israeli-Hebrew websites and did not find any mention of a missile falling on a factory in Tiberias.
Sky News Arabia published a report on the same date, 22 June 2024, stating that the Russian Tuapse oil refinery, located on the Black Sea coast, was damaged as a result of an attack by Ukrainian drones. The report indicated that the Tuapse refinery was the target of several Ukrainian airstrikes.
This claim comes in conjunction with the recent bombing of the Lebanese Hezbollah, where it announced on 22 September 2024 that it had targeted the “Ramat David” base southeast of the city of Haifa, and the military industries complex of the Rafael company specializing in electronic means and equipment north of the city with “Fadi 1” and “Fadi 2” missiles, while the Israeli occupation army launched raids on towns in southern Lebanon.
