Accounts on “X” published a video clip of the destruction of military vehicles, claiming that they are Israeli occupation army tanks targeted by Hezbollah.
Kashif verified the video via Google and found that it’s old and incorrectly linked to Hezbollah targeting of an Israeli army tank. The clip is from ARMA3 video game and circulated in October 2022.
AFP published a previous verification of the video on 11/10/2022, at the same time as it was being circulated with the claim that it was real and depicted Russian tanks being targeted and burned. The results showed that the video was from the military game ARMA3, and was published by YouTube channel “MILMAN”, the video had been removed.
A report published by the istinomer website on 10/20/2022, which included a group of excerpted images from the video clip, stated that the clip was removed from the “MILMAN” channel for violating the platform’s privacy.
The battiefldfootages channel on YouTube also posted the video on 1/12/2022 with the following title: “Anti-tank missile destroyed 2 (Russian) Arma3 tanks.” In reference to the fact that the clip is from “Arma3″ Video game.
Upon examining the circulated video, Kashif’s team noticed that the video elements were illogical, as evident in the shape of the tanks, shells, the nature of the explosion, and the houses in the clip.
Kashif had verified a video of “Arama 3” video game that had been shared in a misleading context, which stated: “A video of the Qassam Brigades shooting down an occupation army plane in Khan Yunis.”
