A video shared by infamous “GAZAWOOD1” on on X shows a man collapsing near a group of people carrying another person on a stretcher. The account captioned the video with the claim: “These men think you’re too gullible to see through their blatant theatrics,” implying the scene was staged.
The claim is misleading. The video documents the moment Palestinian journalist Sa’ed Nabhan was fatally shot by an Israeli sniper in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Journalist Khamees Al-Rifi originally posted the video on Instagram on 10/1/2025 with the caption:
“The moment we were directly targeted while documenting the evacuation of the injured west of Al-Nuseirat camp, resulting in the injury and immediate martyrdom of journalist Sa’ed Abu Nabbahan.”
Al-Rifi confirmed to Kashif that the individual shown in the video is late journalist Sa’ed Abu Nabhan, who was assisting paramedics evacuating the wounded from Al-Nuseirat. Al-Rifi stated:
“Sa’ed was suddenly shot in the back, with the bullet exiting through his chest. He was not wearing press gear and died instantly. It took rescuers over 20 minutes to retrieve his body.”
Al-Rifi also mentioned that Abu Nabbahan had been documenting the event using his mobile phone when he was targeted.
Anadolu Agency reported on 10/1/2025 that several Palestinians were injured that Friday as Israeli drones fired bullets and tear gas at a school sheltering displaced civilians west of Al-Nuseirat. Witnesses called on medical teams to urgently evacuate the wounded trapped in the school.
The Gaza Government Media Office issued a statement on 11/1/2025 confirming the death of journalist Sa’ed Abu Nabbahan by an Israeli sniper while covering the events in Al-Nuseirat. Abu Nabhan was a photojournalist for Al-Ghad TV and a freelance contributor to Anadolu Agency. He was married and a father.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, the ongoing Israeli aggression since 7/10/2023 has resulted in 46,584 deaths and 109,731 injuries as of the latest update.
This tragic incident highlights the risks faced by journalists in conflict zones and the importance of countering misinformation surrounding such events.
