Accounts on “X” recently published a photo of a crashed helicopter, claiming that it was an Israeli army helicopter that crashed in Syria, “Breaking: An Israeli helicopter crashed in the Syrian town of Beit Jann, near Mount Hermon on the border with Lebanon.”
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The image is of an Israeli army helicopter that crashed in the Gaza Strip, not in Syria.
Israeli-Hebrew website Ynet published the photo on 11/9/2024 in a report titled “Two IDF soldiers killed in helicopter crash on Philadelphia Road.” The website stated that the photo was from the site of the helicopter crash, and included several photos from different angles of the same helicopter.
The report stated that two Israeli soldiers were killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash in the Philadelphi axis in the Gaza Strip, and 6 other crew members were injured, including 3 in critical condition.
Sky News Arabic also published the photo on 11/9/2024 stating that it was of the “Owl” helicopter.
The Syrian News Agency SANA reported on Thursday 10/10/2024, that the Israeli air raids targeted the industrial city of Hasiya and a military sites in Hama, which led to huge fire and material damage.
