A video clip showing a huge explosion has spread on social media, with the claim that it occurred at an American military base in Jordan.
Kashif verified the video clip via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The video clip is of an explosion in the southern suburb of Beirut, not in Jordan. It was published by several accounts on social media, including the “Palestinian Media Center” and the “Palestine Dialogue Network” on “X” on 28 September 2024, with the following text: “Watch violent raids on the southern suburb of Beirut”.
Kashif’s team contacted journalist Ahmed Abu Laila from Lebanon, who confirmed that the clip dates back to Israeli raids that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut on 27 September 2024.
The General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, announced that a “Grad” missile launched from southern Lebanon fell on Saturday evening, 28 September 2024, in an uninhabited desert area in Muwaqqar. It confirmed that there were no human or material damages as a result of the missile falling.
On 28/9/2024, the Israeli occupation army carried out a series of violent raids on various areas in Lebanon, focusing on the southern suburbs of Beirut, where it targeted Hezbollah’s “security square.” The army also reported that it targeted Hezbollah’s central headquarters in Haret Hreik, claiming that the party’s secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed.
Hezbollah announced on Saturday 28 September 2024 the killing of the party’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli bombardment on Friday, on the southern suburbs of Lebanon.
