Accounts on “X” recently published a video clip showing a vehicle colliding with a group of people, claiming that it was a ramming operation in Tel Aviv following Galant’s dismissal, “Watch a run-over in Tel Aviv. This comes after the ongoing demonstrations last night against Galant’s dismissal.”
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” tool and found that the video is old and the claim is misleading. The clip dates back to 9/9/2023 of a car ramming protesters against judicial reforms on the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv, i.e. before the dismissal of the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, on Tuesday, 5/11/2024.
The official account of the Israeli Broadcasting Authority published on the “X” platform on 9/9/2023 the circulated video clip accompanied by the following text: “Documentation of the running over of demonstrators against judicial reforms in Ayalon, a number of protesters were injured.”
Times of Israel also published a report on 10/9/2023 that included the video clip and a cropped image from the clip. The website reported that “a car rammed into a group of protesters against judicial reform who were blocking a major highway in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening, 9/9/2023, at the end of the city’s weekly mass demonstration.”
The report added, “A 25-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital with a leg injury.”
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced on Tuesday evening, 5/11/2024, the dismissal of the Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, saying, “He does not trust his management of the ongoing military operations.”
A number of mass demonstrations took place on Tuesday evening, 5/11/2024, in various parts of Israel in protest against Galant’s dismissal.
