A photo of two dead bodies on the ground was shared by social media accounts claiming that it’s in Jabalia in the Gaza Strip, “Jabalia is being destroyed. Whoever leaves his home dies, and whoever stays home dies of hunger.”
Kashif verified the image via Google, and found that it is old and taken from a video clip and incorrectly linked to the Gaza Strip. The image was taken in Aleppo in 2016, not from Gaza.
The image was screenshot from a video clip published by Abdul Karim Laila’s account on YouTube on 16/7/2016, with the title “Horrific massacres in Aleppo and more than 50 martyrs in bombing by Russian warplanes and helicopters.” Upon examining the video clip, it was found that the circulated image occurs at minute 02:08.
“Shia-News” website also published the circulating photo on 28/7/2016 and stated that it was of child victims in the Syrian war.
On 13/12/2016, Shams News Agency published the photo in a report with the following title: “Bodies everywhere, the living in their last moments, crying out for help, Aleppo is being destroyed.”
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, the death toll from the Israeli aggression is at 42,227 and 98,464 injuries since 7 October 2023.
