Accounts on X published a video clip showing a plane burning and falling with the following text: “Al-Qassam Brigades: A Zionist helicopter falls during an evacuation operation of the dead and wounded in the Philadelphi axis, and Hebrew media is talking about the killing of three Zionists and the injury of ten”.

Kashif verified the video and via reverse search on Google, it found that the video is old and shows the downing of a plane in Syria, not in the Gaza Strip. Euronews published the video on 11 February 2020, titled: “Watch: Syrian regime helicopter downed in Idlib, killing two pilots”.

The director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Eid al-Rahman, added : “The helicopter was shot down in Aleppo province after being targeted by the Turkish forces stationed there with a guided missile,” while the Turkish forces did not comment on this.

As for the Qassam Brigades, Kashif looked into and searched the official website of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades and did not find any mention of their adoption of the operation to shoot down the military plane in the Philadelphi axis in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli-Hebrew website “Ynet” also published a report on Wednesday, 11 September 2024, stating that two soldiers in the Israeli occupation army were killed in a “Black Hawk” helicopter crash in the Philadelphi axis in the Gaza Strip, and 6 other crew members were injured, including 3 in critical condition.

Israel Hayom newspaper reported, quoting a statement by the Israeli occupation army, that: “Initial investigations into the plane crash on the Philadelphi axis indicate human or technical error, and were not the result of enemy fire”.
