Social media accounts posted a video clip showing a girl hugging her father, claiming that she is a Syrian journalist after being released from prison in Syria, “After liberating prisons of the tyrant Bashar al-Assad by the hands of the heroes of the Syrian revolutionaries, the Syrian journalist Rasha is freed and breathes freedom from the prisons of the criminal Assad after being detained for more than 3 years.”

Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” tool and found that it was incorrectly linked to Syrian detainees. The video shows the moment Palestinian journalist Rasha Harzallah was released from Israeli occupation prisons on 1/12/2024.

Al-Fajr TV channel posted the video on YouTube on 1/12/2024 with the following title: “The first moments following the release of journalist Rasha Harzallah after six months of detention.” Al-Fajr TV logo also appears on the circulated video.

Al Arabiya Palestine Facebook account published on 12/1/2024 a video clip from a different angle of Harzallah’s release, and explained that the video documents the moment journalist Rasha Harzallah was released after 6 months detention in Israeli occupation’s prisons.

A report published by Ultra Palestine website on 1/12/2024, which included a circulated video clip and a photo showing journalist Rasha Harzallah meeting her family outside the prison, stated that the Israeli occupation authorities released journalist Rasha Harzallah from Nablus on Sunday, 1/12/2024.

The report stated that journalist Harzallah (39 years old) was arrested by the occupation last June, on the basis of what the occupation calls “incitement on social media.”

The opposition factions announced on Wednesday 27/11/2024 the start of a military operation called “Deterrence of Aggression.” On Sunday 12/8/2024, they announced in a statement broadcasted on state television the liberation of Damascus and the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year rule. The opposition added that all detainees had been released.
