Social media accounts posted a video showing a stray dog attacking a young child and an older man saving him. The accounts claimed the video was from Jordan, with the following text accompanying the video: “Jordan… Man saves child from stray dog attack.”
Kashif verified the video and found the claim to be misleading. The video documents a man rescuing a child from a stray dog attack in the town of Yamoun, west of Jenin, not in Jordan.
The father of the child shown in the video, Muhammad Mahmoud Khalaf, told Kashif that, “A stray dog attacked his 4-year-old son, Abdullah, in front of their home near Al-Rashidin Mosque in the town of Al-Yamoun, west of Jenin. At the same time, their neighbor, Hajj Osama Samar, was in the street and saved the child from the dog’s attack.” He added that he immediately took his son, Abdullah, to Jenin Governmental Hospital and took the necessary precautions. The child was described as having head injuries and is in stable condition.
He also sent photos of his son, Abdullah Muhammad Khalaf, to the Observatory after he was injured.

Al Arabiya Palestine also posted the video on Facebook with the following description: “A citizen saves a child from a dog attack in the town of Yamoun, west of Jenin.”
Al-Fajr TV also posted the video on Telegram, accompanied by the following description: “A video documenting the moment stray dogs attacked a child in the town of Yamoun, west of Jenin.”
