A video clip of a little girl looking through a hole in what appears to be a damaged wall has gone viral with the claim that the girl is under the rubble in the Gaza Strip, “An infant searching for hope to get out from under the rubble of her destroyed home.”
Kashif verified the claim via “Google Images” tool and found it to be misleading, as the video is of a girl from Syria, not from the Gaza Strip.
Kashif was able to contact the mother who published the circulating video on her TikTok account, Al-Ghaith “userftdvvrl92i”, on 26/10/2024. The girl’s mother explained to Kashif that she took the video of her daughter, Iman, in the Idlib countryside in northern Syria.
The child’s mother said that she was playing with her daughter and filmed her through a drain hole in the house. She added that she posted the video clip on her TikTok account, and it was widely circulated on social media sites as if it was from Gaza.
Upon examining the mother’s account, Kashif found a group of video clips filmed through a drain hole in the house, including a video clip showing the other side of the hole.
