Accounts on “X” recently published a video clip showing armed elements shooting down a helicopter, claiming that it was in Hama Governorate during the “Deterrence of Aggression” operation. The video was accompanied by the following text: “The moment the helicopter was shot down in Hama, #Battle_to_Deter_Aggression”.
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading, as Al-Hadath channel published the video on Facebook on 13/2/2020, accompanied by the following description: “Watch | Downing of a Syrian regime helicopter using an advanced missile.”
Halab Today channel also published the same video on YouTube on 13/2/2020, accompanied by the following title: “Viral| The moment a regime forces helicopter was shot down in the Idlib countryside by targeting it with a surface-to-air missile 2-11-2020.”
It was published by the Baladi News Media page on Facebook on 13/2/2020, with the following description: “The moment the regime helicopter was targeted with a guided missile in Idlib, Syria.”
On 14/2/2020, Arab media and CNN reported that “opposition factions in northwestern Syria – Idlib and Aleppo – announced that they had shot down a Syrian regime helicopter, killing its crew members.”
The Syrian opposition announced on Thursday 5/12/2024 its control over Hama Governorate and the release of hundreds of prisoners in the central prison, while the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian Arab Republic announced the redeployment and repositioning of military units outside the city of Hama.
