Accounts on “X” recently published a video clip showing a group of Jews burning the “Star of David.” The clip was accompanied by the following text: “Jews burn the Israeli star in London,” indicating that the video is recent.
Kashif verified the video and found that it is old. The Jewish Chronicle website published a screenshot of the circulating video in a report published on 22 May 2014, with the following title: “Stamford Hill students burn Star of David.”
The report explained that the Toras Chesed yeshivah in Stamford Hill celebrated the Lag ba’Omer festival by burning a giant Star of David in an anti-Zionist display.
The newspaper quoted the head of the yeshiva, Rabbi Haim Yehuda Babad, as saying that the school belongs to the Satmar sect, “and we are anti-Zionist, but usually in Satmar we don’t do such things. The boys just did it and no one made an issue of it. They just did it and we didn’t do anything about it.”
“If it causes chaos and disturbs people, I will consider not allowing it,” Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Babad added.
The Satmar sect is considered one of the Hasidic Jewish groups that are strongly anti-Zionist. They believe that the Israeli occupation state’s human efforts are a rebellion against the will of God, and they describe it as a racist state that corrupts the Torah, and that it is worse than Nazism.
