X account “ GAZAWOOD1 ” posted a video showing a fetus being pulled out of the rubble, with the claim: “Isn’t it time for an international investigation into the terrible things Palestinians do to stage scenes? And the countless scenes they fabricate? Isn’t that a crime? Why not investigate this disturbing phenomenon?”, indicating that the video is fake, and that the event is a staged scene produced by Palestinians.
The video included the following text: “The Palestinians claim that this fetus emerged from its mother’s womb after an Israeli airstrike. However, it is physically impossible for the explosion to have delivered the fetus intact. The force would have destroyed both mother and fetus. If the explosion was strong enough to rip apart the mother’s body, the fetus would have been ripped apart as well. Are the Palestinians bringing fetuses to these scenes to heighten the drama? Are these real fetuses? Why do they do this when there is so much suffering in Gaza?”
Kashif verified the video clip via the “INVID” tool and found that it is real and the claim is misleading, as Abdullah Al-Majdalawi posted it on his account “ 3bood_almajdalwi ” on Instagram on 21 September 2024, accompanied by the following text: “There is nothing to say, the picture is more eloquent than the article”.
Kashif’s team also contacted person who took the video clip, Abdullah Al-Majdalawi, a rescue worker in the Civil Defense Department, who confirmed that the video was from Al-Falah School in Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, which was targeted by the Israeli occupation in an airstrike on 21 September 2024. He stated that the mother of the fetus appearing in the video is Iman Al-Madi, who was also killed.
Al-Majdalawi reported in his description of the incident that the Civil Defense teams responded to a report about the targeting of Al-Fellah Hospital in Al-Zeitoun neighborhood on 2024.9.21. Upon arriving at the site, they found many injured people, most of them children, lying on the ground. While inspecting the second floor of the building, they found the body of a woman lying on her face. When they tried to lift her, they found that she had been hit by shrapnel in the abdomen. Her fetus was found outside her body, and the paramedic noticed that the umbilical cord had been severed from the mother but remained connected to the fetus. It was then found that the mother and the fetus, which was estimated to be 6 months old, had been martyred as a result of the targeting.
Kashif’s team found, via searching for keywords, that journalist Hussam Shabat documented the testimony of paramedic Abdullah Al-Majdalawi from the scene of the incident while he was carrying the fetus via a video clip that he published on 21 September 2024, accompanied by the following text: “In Gaza, even the fetus becomes a martyr, separated from his mother’s womb due to the bomb that hit her, without him being destined to take his first breath or see his mother’s eyes. Neither the fetus nor his mother survived the treacherous raid that penetrated their bodies – the massacre of Al-Falah School in Gaza City”.
Journalist Hossam Shabat also posted on his account on “X” on 21 September 2024 a picture of the fetus from a different angle, accompanied by the following text: “The fetus was martyred before it was born!! By the occupation’s aircraft”.
Journalist Shabat, told Kashif that on 21 September 2024, the Israeli occupation army targeted Al-Falah School in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, which houses thousands of displaced people in the south of Gaza City, resulting in a number of casulties, including a pregnant woman whose abdomen was ripped open and the fetus came out.
The Director General of the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Thawabta, told Kashif that the mother, Iman Al-Madi, was killed with her fetus, which came out of her womb after she was injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted Al-Falah School. He explained that the fetus was 6 months old inside the mother’s womb.
The death toll from the Israeli occupation’s massacre of the displaced people in Al-Fellah School “Al-Zeitoun” south of Gaza City reached 22 and 30 injured, most of whom were children and women, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
