Accounts, including the account of the spokesperson of the Israeli occupation army, Avichay Adraee, published two photos on “X”, the first is of the wife of the late head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, carrying a bag, claiming that the bag is a “Hermes Birkin”, which costs $32,000. The second photo is of a “Hermes Birkin” bag with its price.
The two photos were accompanied by the following text: “Did Sinwar’s wife enter the tunnel with him on October 6, carrying a Birkin bag that cost an estimated $32,000?!” While the people of Gaza do not have enough money for a tent or basic supplies, we see many examples of Yahya Sinwar and his wife’s special love for money.
Kashif verified the claim and found it to be misleading, as the bag seen with Sinwar’s wife does not match the specifications of a Hermes Birkin bag.
The Hermes Birkin bag has a horizontal gold frame and a chain in the shape of a lock. The bag carried by Sinwar’s wife has two gold chains (decorations) under the handle of the bag. The bag carried by Sinwar’s wife also does not match the image of the “Hermes Birkin” bag that was published by the accounts, including Adraee’s account.
The Israeli occupation army published a video clip on Saturday 19/10/2024 , claiming that it was of the former head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, accompanied by his family inside the tunnel, noting that the video was taken on 6/10/2023.
Hamas announced on 18/10/2024 the killing of its political bureau chief Yahya Sinwar in a clash with the Israeli occupation army in Tel al-Sultan in the city of Rafah.
