Information has spread on social media claiming that Salwa Dahlan, who appeared in a video clip saying that she had not eaten for days, had died of starvation. The image was accompanied by the following description: “Salwa, who appeared in a video clip saying that she was hungry and had not eaten for five days, Salwa is a hungry martyr complaining to God about the injustice of this unjust world.”
Kashif verified the information and found it to be fabricated. Kashif contacted journalist Zuhair Dahlan from Gaza, who denied the information. He added that Ms. Salwa is fine and has not been martyred. He added that he was with her during the day, and that she is under his care and residing in Deir al-Balah. Regarding her health, he explained that she is fine and has improved.
Kashif also contacted the activist, Ihab Youssef, who explained that Ms. Salwa is fine. He had been with her for a short time and visited her in her tent in Deir al-Balah.
A video clip was circulated on 16 July 2025, of Mrs. Salwa Dahlan from inside Al-Shifa Hospital, complaining of hunger and that she had not eaten for five days.
169 citizens, including 93 children, have died of hunger and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, as a result of the blockade, the continued closure of crossings, and the denial of humanitarian aid by the Israeli occupation.
