Accounts on “X” recently posted two videos showing two people holding a baby, accompanied by the following text: “According to the BBC and CNN, the Ministry of Health in Gaza (also known as Hamas) is a reliable source of information. Here is one example of their propaganda: Same baby, same photographer, same actors, same scene, different location.”
Kashif verified the claim and found it to be misleading. Kashif’s team contacted cameraman, Alaa Salama, who explained that the video was filmed in mid-May after an artillery bombardment targeted the home of Abdullah Abu Rizq.
Salama explained that the targeting was on the top four floor, which led to 17 people being injured, most of them children, and they were transferred to the Kuwaiti Hospital by carrying the injured and delivering them to the Kuwaiti Specialized Hospital in the center of Rafah. He added that the targeting of the house coincided with the entry of the military operation of the Israeli occupation army into the eastern areas of Rafah city and then extended to all parts of Rafah city.
Alaa Salama confirmed to Kashif that the two circulated videos were taken from a video he had posted on his Instagram account. He explained that the two scenes were of the same event and people, and that he had captured the two scenes from the front angle and the back angle. Salama added that he captured the two scenes from the left side of the rescuers who were running from the targeted house in the center of Rafah to the Kuwaiti Hospital to transport the injured.
Kashif’s team also found that cameraman Alaa Salama posted the full video clip on his Instagram account on 8/5/2024, and the clip included the following text: “25 injuries arrived at the Kuwait Specialized Hospital as a result of the occupation artillery firing its shells at a number of citizens’ homes in central Rafah.”
The Israeli occupation artillery bombed, on Wednesday afternoon, 8/5/2024, residential buildings in the center of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip, which led to fires breaking out inside them, according to the Palestinian News and Information Agency, WAFA.
On Monday, 18/11/2024, the Israeli occupation army targeted several areas north and west of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip with intensive artillery shelling.
The Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip since 7/10/2023, resulting in the murder of 43,846 people and 103,740 injuries, according to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
