Social media platforms have circulated a video allegedly showing Israeli Knesset members crying during the signing of the recent ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The video was shared with the caption:
“Israeli ministers and leaders crying during the session approving the ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal with Hamas, forced upon them.”
Via “Google Images”, Kashif verified the video and found that it is old and unrelated to the recent ceasefire. The video was originally published by the Israeli-Hebrew Kan channel on YouTube on 1/11/2023, with the description explaining that it depicts Knesset members crying after watching a video documenting the events of 7/10/2023.
Kan channel uploaded the video on 1/11/2023, noting it shows Knesset members reacting emotionally to footage of the events of 7/10/2023. Channel 14 also shared the same video on 1/11/2023, with the title:
“Shaking with tears: A horror film of the ‘massacre’ stuns lawmakers – a Knesset member faints.”
Al-Araby TV published the same video on 3/11/2023, under the title:
“Knesset members cry after viewing footage of the ‘October 7 operation.’”
The ceasefire agreement between the Israeli military and Hamas in Gaza came into effect on Sunday, 19/1/2025.
The Israeli government approved the deal on Saturday, 18/1/2025, with 24 ministers in favor and 8 opposed. Following the decision, Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir and other members of the Otzma Yehudit faction announced their resignation in protest.
As part of the agreement, Israel released 90 female and child Palestinian prisoners from Ofer Prison. Hamas handed over the names of three Israeli detainees, who were released on the same day.
On 7/10/2023, Mohammad Deif, the Commander-in-Chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas’s military wing), announced the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in response to Israeli crimes. This included mass rocket launches from Gaza into Israeli territory and incursions into settlements near Gaza.
45,936 Palestinian have been killed due to the Israeli aggression that lasted over 15 months.
1,837 Israeli were killed, including 841 soldiers and officers, since 7/10/2023.
