A picture of a huge explosion has spread on social media, with the claim that it was in Iran after the Israeli attack on Tehran at dawn on Saturday 26/10/2024. The picture was accompanied by the following claim: “Tehran is burning and igniting, and what is coming is better and greater.”

One source of the claim

Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool, and found that the image is cropped, old, and incorrectly linked. The image is taken from a video clip published by Al-Jadeed Channel on 23/10/2024 documenting an Israeli occupation raid on the Al-Laylaki area in Lebanon, the video was accompanied by the following description: “Al-Jadeed’s lens captures the moment of the violent raid on the Al-Laylaki area.”

Sky News Arabia also published another video documenting the raid in the southern suburb of Beirut, on 23/10/2024, the video was accompanied by the following description: “Israeli raids turn Beirut’s skies into hell and target a residential area in the southern suburb.”

The Lebanese National News Agency also reported on 23/10/2024 that the Israeli raids that targeted the Laylaki area destroyed six buildings, and that the fires resulting from these raids spread over a wide geographical area.

The Israeli occupation army announced at dawn on Saturday 26/10/2024 in a statement that it had carried out a precise attack against Iranian military sites in several areas, including sites for producing Iranian missiles, surface-to-air missile systems, and Iranian air capabilities, in response to the series of attacks launched by Iran against Israel in recent months.

The Iranian army announced “the killing of two of its soldiers while confronting the attack,” while it said that the Iranian air defense intercepted Israeli attacks in several areas in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam.
