A picture of a hospital has been circulating on social media, claiming that it is the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza after its renovation, “A miracle in Gaza! The Indonesian Hospital has been renovated, thank God.”
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that the claim is inaccurate. The image is of Al-Rantisi Hospital in Gaza City, not the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia.
On 2/11/2024, Al Jazeera published a report entitled “Gaza residents rebuild what the occupation destroyed and return Al-Rantisi Hospital to work.” The report included a picture of the hospital from a different angle, accompanied by the following description: “Reopening of Al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital in Gaza after its restoration following the occupation’s destruction (Al Jazeera).”
Kashif’s team also contacted journalist Bilal Murtada, who is in Gaza City, and he confirmed that the photo is of Al-Rantisi Hospital, not the Indonesian Hospital. He added that the hospital was opened after its renovation on Saturday, 2/11/2024.
Mortada said that the hospital is relatively small and is dedicated to children, and despite its renovation, it is not fully equipped with equipment and departments. He pointed out that Al-Rantisi Hospital is located in Gaza City, while the Indonesian Hospital is located in Beit Lahia, which is witnessing a major siege by the Israeli occupation army.
On 11/10/2023, the Israeli occupation army directly targeted Al-Rantisi Specialized Children’s Hospital in the Gaza Strip. On 21/10/2024, it targeted the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza with several shells, causing fires on its upper floors.
