A photo circulating on social media shows Israeli soldiers abusing civilians in Tulkarm refugee camp. The claim is that the photo shows Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa. The caption reads: “Palestinian Prime Minister, responsible for all security agencies, obeys a soldier’s orders, raises his hands, and undergoes a humiliating and degrading search.”
Kashif verified the photo and found the claim to be misleading. Kashif contacted photographer, Zain Jafaar, who said that the photo was taken on 19/2/2025, during the ongoing military operation on the city of Tulkarm and its two camps. He added: “The journalists were on the roof of a house opposite the eastern part of Tulkarm camp, while covering the destruction of homes inside Tulkarm camp by Israeli occupation forces. At the same time, on the other side of the eastern side, Israeli occupation soldiers were present in front of a building. When Palestinian vehicles passed by, they would stop them, search them, abuse them, and detain some of them inside residential buildings.”
The photo was published on the Getty image website with the following description: “Israeli soldiers arrest men during an ongoing Israeli raid in the Tulkarm Palestinian refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, on February 19, 2025. Since January 21, the Israeli army has been carrying out a large-scale military operation in the Triangle area (Jenin, Tubas, and Tulkarm), where half a million Palestinians live. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission announced that the Israeli occupation authorities prevented, on Saturday, 19/4/2025, Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa from conducting a field tour in the villages of Ramallah and Nablus, towns that are constantly exposed to settler attacks and settlement plans. It said that “This arbitrary measure by the occupation authorities comes as a direct response to the incitement of the leaders of the settler militia against the efforts of the Palestinian government aimed at strengthening the steadfastness of citizens in their land.”
As the Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its camp for the 84th consecutive day, and for the 71st day on the Nour Shams camp, amidst a field escalation, coinciding with gunfire, explosions, raids, vandalism and attacks on citizens and their property, the ongoing aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its two camps resulted in the killing of 13 citizens, including a child and two women, one of whom is eight months pregnant, in addition to the injury and arrest of dozens.
