A link attributed to the Palestinian Authority has been circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups, stating: “The Palestinian Authority now pays 900 shekels to every person over 16 years old”.
Kashif verified the link and found that the link is fake. The link extension outside Palestine is io and not ps. Also, the page has 17 followers.
The Director of the Government Communication Center, Dr. Muhammad Abu Al-Rab, told Kashif that that the link is impersonated and fake. He added that official institutions do not use this method to announce the existence of community contributions and that the body authorized to announce contributions to eligible groups is the Ministry of Social Development.
Dr. Abu Al-Rub also called on citizens to not click on unreliable links and providing personal data, adding that there are many impersonation links that have spread recently to exploit the needs of citizens in these difficult circumstances, and caution must be exercised against them.
