Accounts on “ X ” recently published a video clip showing a bombing of an area, accompanied by the following claim: “A missile attack targeted the vicinity of the American occupation base in the Conoco gas field east of Deir Ezzor.”

Kashif verified the video via the “INVID” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The video was published by “ Al Jazeera Mubasher ” channel via its account on the Facebook on 13 March 2022, with the following caption: “Watch the moment 12 missiles fell on Erbil, Iraq”.

Asharq Al-Awsat  page had also published the video on 13 March 2022 via Facebook, accompanied by the following description: “The moment several missiles fell on the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq.”

Kashif found that “ Naya ” account on Aparat published the video on 12 March 2022, titled “Iranian missile attack on the US-Israeli base in Erbil, Iraq. Reason: the killing of two Iranians.”

Several explosions occurred in the vicinity of the Conoco gas field in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria, from midnight on Tuesday to Wednesday, 14 August 2024, as a result of a missile attack targeting the American base located inside the field. A security source told Reuters that armed groups supported by Iran targeted the American base with six shells, all of which fell in the vicinity of it.
