Accounts on “X” recently published a video clip of a tunnel, claiming that it was from Sednayah prison, following the overthrow of the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and incorrectly linked to Sednayah Prison in Syria. The video was circulated on 3/3/2024, i.e. before the start of Operation “Deterrence of Aggression” and the release of detainees from Sednayah Prison on 8/12/2024.
The TikTok account “ urbexkev ” posted the video on 3.3. 2024, and the account reposted it again on 4.11. 2024, i.e. before the start of Operation “Deterrence of Aggression” on 27.11. 2024 and the first entry of Syrian opposition factions into Sednaya prison after the overthrow of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on 8.12. 2024. The original video does not contain the audio montage of the video circulating about Sednaya.
By examining “urbexkev” account, Kashif found that it identifies itself as “the urban explorer of all time,” and noted that the account publishes videos of abandoned places and tunnels similar to the circulated video.
The Syrian Civil Defense (White Helmets) announced on 10/12/2024 the end of searches for potential detainees in undiscovered secret cells and dungeons inside Sednayah Prison, without finding any secret cells and dungeons that have not yet been opened.
The Association of Detainees and Missing Persons in Sednayah Prison confirmed on 9/12/2024 that the prison was empty of detainees in all its buildings, the white and red, and explained that the last detainee left the prison on 8/12/2024 at 11:00 AM Damascus time.
