A video clip showing a huge explosion has spread on social media, claiming that it was in Tel Aviv, “Now Tel Aviv is under fire from the sons of Haidar al-Karrar”.
Kashif verified the video via reverse search using “Google Images” tool, and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The video clip was published by “ardian5634” on TikTok on 18 July 2024, i.e. before the military escalation between the Israeli occupation and Hezbollah, and accompanied it with the following description: “It really lit up”.
The account also published a video clip showing the event from a different angle, 18 July 2024 on TikTok: “Taiwan Lights Up”.
On 18 July 2024, Al Jazeera’s Facebook account published a video clip showing the explosion from a different angle, and accompanied the clip with the following text: “A huge fire in the industrial area of Tainan City, southern Taiwan, led to a massive explosion and dense columns of smoke rising”.
Al-Hadath channel published the video on YouTube from another angle on 19 July 2024, “A huge explosion in a glue factory in Taiwan”.
Russia Today reported that a fire broke out on Thursday, 18 July 2024, at a resin factory in the city’s industrial zone. The administration announced that rescue teams were able to locate the fire and successfully extinguish it. Local media reported that the factory employees were evacuated, while no official information was released about the presence of casualties.
The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced in a statement published on its Telegram channel on 26 September 2024, which read: “On Wednesday, 25/9/2024, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq attacked a vital target in occupied Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) with drones”.
