A video clip showing the moment a missile was launched has recently spread on social media, accompanied by the following claim: “Yemeni Military Media publishes the moment a hypersonic missile was launched at Israel,” indicating that the video dates back to the launch of the missile that fell east of Tel Aviv Sunday, 15 September 2024.

    One source of the claim

Kashif verified the video via reverse search using the “INVID” tool and found that it is old and incorrectly linked to the launch of the missile that fell east of Tel Aviv. The video was published by the “Yemeni Military Media” on 26 June 2024, with the following description: “A hypersonic ballistic missile of the Hatem 2 type, revealed for the first time, and scenes of its launch on the Israeli ship (MSC SARAH V) in the Arabian Sea”.

The Houthi group announced on 26 June 2024 that it had targeted the ship in the Arabian Sea with a new ballistic missile that had entered service, which resulted in it being directly hit.

The Israeli occupation army said that a “surface-to-surface” missile was launched from Yemen and fell in an uninhabited area east of Tel Aviv, and its fragments were scattered 6 kilometers from Ben Gurion Airport.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, announced the implementation of a qualitative operation targeting a military site in Jaffa using a “hypersonic” missile. He pointed out that the missile traveled a distance estimated at 2,040 kilometers in 11 and a half minutes.
