Old video of boat burning in Taiwan reposted as an explosion from the port of Haifa

A video clip showing a huge fire has recently spread on social media, with the claim: “An explosion inside the port of Haifa due to missiles launched from Lebanon”.

Kashif verified the video via the “INVID” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. It was published by “owl news” website on 11 December 2023 in a report with the following title: “Horrific news about a fishing boat burning in the town of Budai, and the fishing boat was stuck in a sea of ​​fire, but no one was injured”.

Insight News also published a report on 12 December 2023, which included the circulated video and a photo from the scene. The report stated that the Chiayi County Fire Department received a report on 11 December 2023, about a fire on a fishing boat near Huanhe Street in Budai Town (in Taiwan). The report added that the boat caught fire when the accident occurred, and firefighters immediately intervened to put out the fire without any injuries.

The Lebanese Hezbollah announced in a statement this morning, Sunday, 22 September 2024, that it had targeted a military industries complex in Israel, north of the city of Haifa with dozens of missiles, as an initial response to the pager and wireless device explosions.
