Accounts on “X” recently published a video clip showing a large crowd of people on an escalator, claiming that they were escaping from Hezbollah missiles in Tel Aviv, “There is no escape from Hezbollah missiles. You will go to hell, Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv is burning.”
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The video dates back to a crowding and falling of a group of people due to a malfunction of an escalator in a Rome metro station in 2018, which resulted in 24 people being injured.
CNN International posted the video on its X account on 28/10/2018, with the following text: “An escalator broke down at a Rome metro station and quickly descended, injuring 24 people and causing passengers to pile up below.”
The video clip was also circulated in a report published by the BBC website on 24/10/2018, which indicated that more than 20 people were injured, some of them seriously, as a result of an escalator malfunctioning and going out of control in a metro station in Rome.
Hezbollah announced in a statement dated 7/10/2024 that it had targeted a military intelligence unit of the occupation army near Tel Aviv.
Kashif had previously verified the same video clip, and published it in a report discussing the most prominent misleading information that accompanied the Iranian bombing of Israel at dawn on Sunday, 14/4/2024.
