The “ Hadashut_Akshiu_Telgram” account posted a photo of weapons on with the following claim: “Terrorists in Jenin used shoulder-fired missiles for the first time, and they apparently smuggled in from Iran”.
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. “ Roya News ” website published the image on 18 December 2023 in a report titled: “The Arab Army reveals, with images, the identities of the smugglers who were arrested and the seized weapons and drugs”.
The report stated that, according to a responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, it was announced that there were deaths and injuries among smugglers as a result of the ongoing clashes on the northern border between Jordanian border guards and armed groups. The source also indicated that the identities of eight of the nine smugglers who were arrested were revealed, in addition to displaying images of the weapons and drugs that were confiscated.
Israeli Channel 14 correspondent, Yair Altman, reported on his Telegram account on 31 August 2024, “In Jenin, a violent clash is taking place with militants using explosive devices and firearms. For the first time, shoulder-fired missiles were used, which may be weapons smuggled from Iran,” according to his description, while this information was not reported in any reliable Israeli media or website.
The Israeli occupation army continues its aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the fifth consecutive day, resulting in injuries and arrests, in addition to forcing many families to forcibly evacuate. The aggression also left widespread destruction to the infrastructure.
According to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed during the operation in Jenin, Tubas and Tulkarm has reached 20.
