Social media accounts posted a photo showing a helicopter, claiming that it’s an Israeli army helicopter shot down in Lebanon, “Breaking: An Israeli helicopter has been shot down now in the Khiyam area in southern Lebanon while transporting a number of dead and wounded from the Zionist army.”
Kashif verified the photo and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The photo documents the launching of flares by an Israeli army helicopter over the Gaza Strip in March 2019.
AFP published the photo on 25/3/2019, with the following description: “An Israeli helicopter fired flares over the Gaza Strip hours after a rocket from the Palestinian enclave hit a house near Tel Aviv, wounding seven people, raising fears of a sharp escalation, on March 25, 2019. (Mohammed Abed/AFP).”

The Israeli occupation army announced on Sunday morning, 24/3/2019, that it had bombed Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip in response to what it said were explosive devices thrown by Palestinians towards the border fence separating Israel and the Gaza Strip.
These events coincided with the approach of the first anniversary of the Return Marches, when about 258 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation fire, according to media.
The Israeli occupation army continues its attack on the town of Khiyam in the Marjeyoun district in southern Lebanon, where the aerial and artillery bombardment continued during Friday night until Saturday morning.
The occupation army’s warplanes intensified their raids on the town, and the Israeli artillery targeted its center and outskirts with heavy and medium shells, in addition to firing phosphorous shells at the Jalahiya area north of Khiyam, and blow up and demolished buildings.
On Saturday, 23/11/2024, Hezbollah announced a series of attacks on gatherings of Israeli occupation forces with rocket salvoes east of the city of Khiyam.
