Social media accounts posted a photo of a fire ball, claiming that it was in Tehran due to the Israeli attack on Saturday 26/10/2024, “The sun rose in Iran at night before morning due to the start of the Israeli attack on Tehran now.”
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and was incorrectly linked to the explosions of the Israeli military attack on Iran Saturday, at dawn, 26/10/20124. The image is of a fire that broke out as a result of an airstrike launched by Israel on Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip in June 2020.
GettyImages website published the photo on 6/27/2020, accompanied by the following description: “A ball of fire is seen following an Israeli airstrike at Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip early in the morning of 27/6/2020” and stated that it was taken by Saeed Al-Khatib.
Israeli newspaper, Times of Israel, also reported on 27/6/2020 that the photo was of “a fireball seen after an Israeli airstrike on Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.”
The Israeli occupation army announced Saturday at dawn, 26/10/2024 in a statement that it had carried out a precise attack against Iranian military sites in several areas, including Iranian missile production sites, surface-to-air missile systems, and Iranian air capabilities, in response to the series of attacks launched by Iran against Israel in recent months.
The Iranian army announced the killing of two of its soldiers while confronting the attack, while the Iranian air defense announced its interception of the attacks, while limited damage was inflicted on some points.
