Accounts on “X” recently published a photo showing an explosion, claiming that it was in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images”, and found that it is old and was incorrectly linked to the recent raids launched by US Army on Sana’a. The image documents smoke rising as a result of an Israeli raid on Gaza in August 2018.
AFP published the photo on 8/8/2018, with the following description: “A photo taken on August 8, 2018 in Gaza City shows a column of smoke rising after an Israeli air strike,” and stated that the photo was taken by photographer Mahmoud Hams.
Sky News Arabia reported on 9/8/2018, which included the circulated image, that the Israeli occupation army targeted several sites in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of six others.
The US military launched air strikes on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, on Tuesday night, 17/12/2024, which it said targeted a Houthi command and control facility.
It is noteworthy that the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced in a statement via his account on the “X” platform on 12/16/2024 about “carrying out a military operation targeting an Israeli military target in the occupied Jaffa area using a Palestine hypersonic ballistic missile.”
