Social media accounts posted a video of a massive explosion, claiming it was from recent US airstrikes targeting Ras Isa port in Yemen’s Al Hudaydah governorate. The video was accompanied by the following text: “US F-16 fighter jets carried out more than 14 airstrikes on Ras Isa port in Al Hudaydah, Yemen, resulting in its complete destruction!”

Sputnik Arabic’s Twitter account also posted a photo of a burning oil platform, claiming it was from the US airstrikes targeting Ras Isa port. The photo was accompanied by the following description: “Media affiliated with Ansar Allah: The number of dead and wounded from the US bombing of the Ras Isa oil facility has risen to 33 dead and 80 wounded, in a preliminary toll.”

Kashif verified the two images via Invid and Google Images, and found that they were old and incorrectly linked to the US airstrikes targeting Ras Isa Port in Yemen’s Al Hudaydah Governorate.

First: A group of accounts on social media published the video on 3/9/2023, including “Ghalab Ahmed Alqawas” Instagram account, which accompanied the video with the following description: “The explosion of the Al-Mafzar gas station in the capital, Sana’a, and the arrival of a large number of cases to the burns department of Al-Jumhuri Hospital.”

The video was posted on “Ghallab Ahmed Alqawas” Instagram account on 3/9/2023.

Bandar Al-Mujammal’s Facebook account also posted the video on the same date, along with the following description: “A violent explosion in Sana’a turned night into day as a result of a gas factory explosion.”

Second: On 22/4/2010, CBS News published the photo in a report titled “Louisiana Oil Platform Explosion,” with the following description: “The Deepwater Horizon oil platform caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, 22/4/2010.”

Kashif had previously verified the image after it was circulated with claims that it depicted a military operation carried out by the Yemeni Armed Forces in the Red Sea in November 2024.

US airstrikes targeted Ras Isa Port in Yemen’s Al Hudaydah Governorate on 18/4/2025, killing 80 people and wounding 150 others.
