“Hagit.edu” TikTok user shared a video showing a clip from a news report aired on Al-Jazeera on 15 November 2023, documenting the aftermath of the Israeli army’s invasion of Al-Shifa medical complex in the Gaza Strip, then a video of a group of kids playing football in front of a hospital on the same day, then the publisher of the video appears to wonder why the kids are playing in the vicinity of Al-Shifa complex, casting doubt on the reporting of Al-Jazeera.
Kashif verified the video published by TikTok user, hagit.edu, and found that it linked the two video clips in a misleading style, Al-Jazeera’s report was published on 15 November 2023 and talks about Al-Shifa Hospital, where it carried the following headlines: “Horror” amid the Israeli storming into Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
Kashif also found that the video showing children playing football was published by user “ahmad.ibraa” on 15 November 2023, where also the director of the Al-Jazeera office in Gaza, Wael Al-Dahdouh, can be seen at the beginning, but by checking the video, Kashif found that the square in which the children play is located in the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, where the name of the hospital appears in the background of the video showing the children. Al-Shifa Hospital is located in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip
Wael Al-Dahdouh and the Al-Jazeera team were displaced from Gaza City towards the south on 10 November 2023.
Regional and international media such as Monte Carlo International, Sky News, Al-Arabiya and others reported on the Israeli occupation army’s storming of Al-Shifa Hospital on Wednesday, 15 November 2023, despite the presence of thousands of displaced people, sick, wounded and medical supplies inside it at the time.
