Fayiz Alameer published on Facebook, 1/10/2024, information that read: “Breaking: A source from Al Arabiya channel”: Hassan Nasrallah survived the Israeli assassination attempt, and Reuters, a source close to Hezbollah, the Secretary-General of the party, Hassan Nasrallah, is alive, and a source from an Israeli channel, a sharp disagreement between Israeli intelligence and Netanyahu over the news of the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah. This is today’s news. What is true, God knows.”

Fayiz Alameer’s Facebook account claims

WhatsApp groups circulated a screenshot of a breaking news story published by Al Jazeera Mubasher, which also stated: “Reuters, citing a source close to Hezbollah: The party’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, is alive.”

Social media accounts also published information on Tuesday attributed to Channel 14, which stated: “Breaking: Initial information from Israeli military intelligence indicates that Hassan Nasrallah survived the assassination attempt and is still alive, but is still in the southern suburb, so the raids on the suburb were intensified tonight.”

One source of the claim

Kashif verified the information and found it to be misleading, as we explain in the following verification:

First claim: A source from Al Arabiya channel: “Hassan Nasrallah survived the Israeli assassination attempt.”

Returning to the website and accounts of Al Arabiya channel on social media platforms, it becomes clear that the channel talked about the failure of the assassination of the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, following the Israeli raid on the southern suburbs that targeted Nasrallah on 27/9/2024, i.e. before the official announcement by Hezbollah of the assassination of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, on 28/9/2024.

On 27 September 2024, Al Arabiya channel published the following news on its Facebook account: “Channel 14, and did not find any mention of this information.”

Al Arabiya news about the failed assassination attempt on 9/27/2024

By searching the website and accounts of Al Arabiya channel, Kashif’s team did not find any recent news published on Tuesday 1/10/2024, talking about Nasrallah’s survival from assassination.

Kashif’s team found that Al Arabiya channel published, via its Facebook account on 1/10/2024, video talking about postponing the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, as it published a digital report at 1:27 pm, and an interview with a writer and political researcher at 2:28 pm.

Second claim:

1. Reuters: “A source close to Hezbollah: Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is alive.”

2.  Screenshot of a recent breaking news story published by Al Jazeera Mubasher, which reads: “Reuters, citing a source close to Hezbollah: Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is alive.”

Kashif’s team found that Arab media outlets, including Al Jazeera, had quoted the same news from Reuters on 27/9/2024, i.e. after the Israeli raid that targeted Nasrallah and before Hezbollah’s official announcement of the assassination of its Secretary-General as well.

Kashif searched Al Jazeera Mubasher’s accounts and found that the screenshot circulated as recent was from a post published by the channel on 27/9/2024 on its Instagram account . The channel did not publish recent news about Nasrallah’s survival from the assassination attempt.

Al Jazeera Mubasher’s Instagram post was shared on 9/27/2024

By searching Reuters’ website, Kashif found that it published a report on Tuesday 1/10/2024, at 1:58 pm, with the following title: “Israel says it is targeting Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon with ground raids.”

The report stated that “the Israeli raids come in the wake of intensive air strikes that destroyed Hezbollah’s leadership, including the assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in Beirut last week.”

Reuters report

Third claim:

1. A source from an Israeli channel: “A sharp disagreement between Israeli intelligence and Netanyahu over the news of the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah.”

2. Hebrew Channel 14: “Breaking: Initial information from Israeli military intelligence indicates that Hassan Nasrallah survived the assassination attempt and is still alive, but is still in the southern suburb, so the raids on the suburb were intensified tonight.”

Kashif’s Israeli-Hebrew team searched the media and official Hebrew websites, including Channel 14, and did not find any mention of this information.

The last thing Channel 14 published about the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was a report that talked about the state of shock and grief in the Arab community in Israel over Nasrallah’s assassination. The report also explained that some leaders of the Arab community expressed their regret over Nasrallah’s assassination, including Ahmed Tibi, a member of the Knesset.

Channel 14 Hebrew report

The Israeli occupation army announced that it was able to assassinate the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, in an air strike launched by Israeli F-35 fighter jets on Friday, 27 September 2024, on a site in the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Hezbollah announced on Saturday 28/9/2024 the martyrdom of its former Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli bombardment on Friday 27/9/2024 on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
