Over the past few days, Israeli accounts launched a campaign against journalist Moatasem Dalloul, most notably the account of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the account of Dr. Eli David, both of which published a screenshot of his page on X platform showing that the geographic location of his account on the social media platform is in Poland, claiming that the reports he provides from Gaza are misleading and unreliable, and that he is not present inside the Strip. The campaign later expanded as other Israeli accounts circulated the same image and its accompanying claims.

A photo was also circulated of Dalloul with a woman, with the claim that it is recent and was taken in Poland.
Kashif verified the information and found it to be misleading.
First: Kashif contacted journalist Moatasem Dalloul, who provided it with a video clip showing him from the Gaza Strip. He denied the misleading information about his departure from Gaza and explained the reason behind his location appearing on X platform as if it were coming from Poland.
A video clip of journalist Moatasem Dalloul showing him from the Gaza Strip, denying the misleading information about his departure from Gaza, and explaining the reason his location on X platform appears as if it were coming from Poland.
“I am present in the Gaza Strip and have not left it since 2011 except for one year only to complete my postgraduate studies in media in London. Since the beginning of the war, I have been covering events on the ground, and during the war I lost 49 members of my family, including my wife and three of my children.”
Regarding the appearance of his residence location on X as Poland, Dalloul explained that the Israeli occupation destroyed the communication and internet networks in the Strip during the war, forcing residents to use eSIM cards to obtain internet service. These eSIMs come from various sources, some European and some from East Asia. The eSIM Dalloul uses is of the type “eSIM Plus,” and its source is Poland, which is why its IP address appears as if it were from Poland.
Second: The photo showing Dalloul with a woman in Poland was manipulated by editing Dalloul’s face in it. The original photo was published to “iamdocgelo,” which published it among a set of photos from his trip to Poland on 26 May 2025.
Third: Dalloul published a video clip on his X page on 23 November 2025 in which he denied the claims that he was in Poland and showed in the video the place where he was located inside the Gaza Strip among the destroyed homes. On 24 November 2025 he published another clip from among the tents in Gaza City, and on 25 November 2025 he published a third clip documenting the rain and the tents inside the Strip.

In recent weeks, a number of Palestinian journalists and news accounts were subjected to a widespread disinformation campaign that casting doubt on their locations and the credibility of the content they publish from the Gaza Strip. The campaign focused on displaying the “About this account” information on the X platform by sharing images suggesting that the accounts are run from various countries outside Gaza, such as Turkey, Europe, Australia, and Indonesia, and that the owners of these accounts are not inside the Strip. The campaign included prominent accounts such as Gaza Notifications، Times of Gaza، Martyrs of Gaza، Gaza Report، Palestine News، and journalist Mohammad Samiri.
These campaigns came in parallel with direct targeting of journalists and their offices during the war on Gaza. According to the latest update from the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, 255 journalists and media workers have been killed since the start of the war, making it the deadliest war against the press in modern times.
