A photo of a huge fireball has been circulated on “X” , with the claim that it is in Tel Aviv, “Tel Aviv is now, our Mujahideen’s missiles.”

    One source of the claim

Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and was incorrectly linked to Hezbollah’s targeting of the Israeli Glilot military base in the suburbs of Tel Aviv on Monday, 21/10/2024. The image dates back to 9/10/2023 after an Israeli airstrike hit Gaza City.

On 10/10/2023, Monte Carlo International published the photo in a report titled “The wide Arab interest in the events in Gaza whets the appetite of promoters of fake news on social media.” The site described the photo as “a fireball resulting from an Israeli air strike on Gaza City on October 9, 2023. AFP’s description of the image reads: “A fireball erupts from an Israeli air strike on Gaza City on October 9, 2023. The death toll from the unprecedented assault by Palestinian militant group Hamas on its territory rose to 900 in Israel, which has retaliated with a barrage of strikes on Gaza, bringing the death toll there to 687.”
