A photo of a burning plane has been circulating on social media as from the Ramat David Air Base, which Hezbollah announced it had targeted at dawn on Sunday, 22 September 2024. The photo was accompanied by the following text: “Leaks from the Ramat David Base”.

One of the sources of the claim

Kashif verified the image and through scrutiny, it found that the image is not real and was generated by artificial intelligence. This is evident from the large distortions that appear in the people in the image and their locations, and the distortions in the shape of the cars, as the front of the car cannot be distinguished from its back. Also, the text written on the side of the large car in Hebrew is slanted and the second letter from the right, “a,” does not exist in Hebrew. Kashif noticed the spread of fire and smoke in a random and illogical manner, as shown in the image below.

Deformities are indicated by the red circle:

Hezbollah announced in a statement on Sunday 22 September 2024 that it had targeted the Ramat David base with dozens of Fadi 1 and Fadi 2 missiles, and in another statement it announced targeting the military industries complexes of the Rafael company, which specializes in electronic means and equipment, and is located in the Zevulun area north of Haifa with dozens of Fadi 1, Fadi 2 and Keltyusha missiles as an initial response to the incident of the pager wireless communication devices bombings.

    Hezbollah statement

The Israeli occupation army did not publish any information about the Ramat David site.

The Israeli occupation army launched hundreds of air strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon since Monday morning, 23 September 2024, and Hezbollah responded with barrages of missiles and drones that reached Haifa and Marj Ibn Amer.

Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad announced that 558 people were killed and 1,835 others were injured as a result of the Israeli occupation bombing of southern Lebanon at the time of publishing this verification.
