Recently, accounts on “X” shared an image of airstrike aftermath, claiming it documented the targeting of a power station in the Umm Rashrash area. The image was captioned: “The Yemeni Armed Forces target the power station in the occupied Umm Rashrash area.”
Kashif fact-checked the image using “Google Images” and found it to be old and incorrectly attributed to recent Houthi attacks. The image actually dates back to August 2024 and documents Israeli airstrikes on the Beqaa region in Lebanon.
Multiple news outlets, including Shehab News Agency, Al-Quds TV, and Palestinian Information Center, published the image on 19/8/2024. They reported it depicted Israeli airstrikes on Sarin, near Nabi Sheet in Lebanon’s Beqaa region.
Lebanese websites such as IMLebanon, Lebanon Debate, and Lebanon ON also published the image on 19/8/2024, in reports about the same airstrikes.
Al-Anba Kuwaiti Newspaper shared the image on its “X” account on 19.8.2024, with the caption: “Israeli warplanes launched night raids targeting the south and Beqaa towns.”
Israeli-Hebrew news outlet Ynet included the image in a report titled: “Deep inside Lebanon: Targeting Hezbollah’s underground ammunition depots.” The accompanying text stated: “The attacks deep in Lebanon last night.”
Military correspondent Itay Blumental of Kan News posted the image on “X” the same day, captioned: “Reports from Lebanon: Israeli attacks in the Beqaa Valley near Nabi Sheet.”
On 14/1/ 2025, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced two military operations. One targeted Israeli military sites in the occupied Jaffa area using drones, while the other struck a power station in the Umm Rashrash area with a cruise missile.
This followed a 13/1/2025, statement by Saree regarding a hypersonic ballistic missile attack (Palestine-2) and additional drone strikes on targets in Jaffa.
