Channel 12 did not report truce in Gaza will go into effect on Tuesday

Information attributed to Channel 12 Israel has spread on social media about a truce in the Gaza Strip going into effect next Tuesday evening. The claim read as follows: “The truce will go into effect Tuesday evening and will last for 60 days, on condition that the Israeli forces remain inside the Strip.”

Kashif ‘s Israeli-Hebrew affairs team verified the information and found it to be fraudulent. It searched Channel 12, the media, and Hebrew websites and found no mention of the truce going into effect on Tuesday evening, 10/12/2024. 

Channel 12 reported that Egypt had submitted a new proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for a period of 45-60 days, including a prisoner exchange between the two parties.

The channel explained that the details related to this issue have not yet been finalized, but it can be understood that this is a deal that is being carried out in stages, as its first stage lasts from a month and a half to two months, adding that an Israeli negotiating delegation will leave for Cairo next week.

Egypt has presented a new proposal regarding the truce agreement in the Gaza Strip based on a plan for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip for a period of 60 days, during which the Israeli occupation army will partially withdraw from the Strip, and negotiations will take place to end the war between the two parties and on Hamas’s demand for a complete Israeli withdrawal, with the agreement to be completed by the time US President-elect Donald Trump takes office next year. 

For its part, Hamas announced in a statement on Thursday 5/12/2024 the movement’s approval of the proposal submitted by Egypt regarding the formation of a community support committee through comprehensive national mechanisms. It indicated that it had met with a number of Palestinian national and prominent figures present in Cairo, and informed them of the meetings that had taken place with the Fatah movement and the movement’s position towards the Egyptian proposal.
