A video showing people in white body bags moving was widely shared on social media with the claim its of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip acting dead in front of cameras, one of the posts claimed, “Palestinian bugs wanted to distort Israel, so they filmed the bodies, but the bodies had to move because of the heat of the sheets”.
The claim: “Palestinian insects wanted to distort Israel so they filmed bodies, but the bodies moved because of the heat of the sheets.”
The Correction: Original video published on 28 October 2013 by “Albadil newspaper” on YouTube titled, “A dramatic display of corpses inside Al-Azhar University.”
This claim was shared as part of the “Pallywood” campaign which casts doubt on the existence and number of Palestinians killed and wounded in the Gaza Strip, and accuses the Palestinians of acting in order to gain international sympathy.
Kashif verified the authenticity of the video clip and found that it is old and misleading. Using reverse search and searching public sources, Kashif found that the video was published on 28 October 2013 by “Al-Badil Newspaper” channel on YouTube titled “A dramatic display of corpses inside Al-Azhar University.” The channel also explained that the video clip was filmed by Mustafa Darwish and edited by Muhammad Anwar.
