A photo of a woman cradling a skeleton amidst the rubble has been circulating on social media as from the Gaza Strip, “A mother cradles what remains of her son in Gaza after more than a year and a half of searching for him under the rubble of her bombed home.”
Kashif verified the image and found it to be fake. It found that the image was generated by artificial intelligence and shows several obvious defects and deformities, including: the pelvic region of the skeleton is noticeably distorted, the skeleton is not connected to the head in a natural way.
In addition, the skeleton could not be this cohesive in reality, as the bones are connected to each other by cartilage, tissue, and muscles, not directly.
The print on the woman’s dress also has obvious distortions, a hallmark of AI-generated images. The background also doesn’t match the woman in the foreground, lacking the appropriate depth and visual dimension. Finally, an app or program logo appears in the right corner of the image, indicating the use of AI in its creation.

The Israeli occupation forces withdrew from some areas of the Gaza Strip, skeletons and bodies of Palestinians were found, particularly in the Netzarim axis in the central Gaza Strip. Mass graves were also discovered in several locations, most notably the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, where three mass graves containing hundreds of bodies, some of them children, were found. Another mass grave was also discovered in the courtyard of Al-Shifa Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.
85 days after the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the Israeli occupation resumed its war on the Gaza Strip at dawn on Tuesday, 18/3/2025, launching a series of violent raids, which led to killing of 673 civilians and 1,233 injuries, according to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
