A picture of children sleeping inside a tent in the mud was shared widely on social media, claiming that it was of children from Gaza sleeping in tents flooded by rain.
Kashif verified the image and found that it was generated by artificial intelligence. This can be evident from the distortions that appear in the image, including the number of toes, the number of fingers, distortions in the ears, and the shape of their noses.
Gazan photojournalist, Muhammad al-Masri, who posted the photo on his account along with several other photos of children sleeping in tents explained that that photo in particular was generated by artificial intelligence, in imitation of the photos he took of children inside the tents of the displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah, where rainwater seeped into the tents due to the heavy rainfall on 26 January 2024
